MLB Future Watch: Robert Hassell III Baseball Cards, Washington NationalsMLB Future Watch: Robert Hassell III Baseball Cards, Washington NationalsRobert Hassell III was drafted by the San Diego Padres with the eighth overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. As good as the Padres are today, this now might be a case of the rich getting richer. But there would be a twist in this story.

As a youngster, Hassell was in the 2013 and 2014 Little League World Series. So, the buzz started early for him.

Hassell played as a pitcher and an outfielder for Independence High School in Franklin, Tennessee. He hit .423 with 14 home runs as a junior and had a 1.07 ERA pitching as well.

When Hassell was entering the MLB Draft, he was voted a preseason All-American by Baseball America and was recognized as one of the best young players in the country.

After he was drafted, he was directed to play at the Padres’ Alternate Training Site. He was too young to get a shot with the big club. It was also the pandemic year, so that was the best thing the Padres could do for him at the time.

Hassell was in Spring Training for the Padres in 2021. He was there as a non-roster invitee. After he got his taste of big-league camp, he was sent to the Elsinore Storm in Low-A ball. He finished the season in High-A with the Great Lakes Loons. In a late-season game, he hit three home runs. Hassell’s combined numbers were 33 doubles, four triples, 11 home runs, and 76 RBI with 34 steals.

In 2022, he would start in A+ Ball. He ended up playing for two teams at that level, and then moved to AA before the end of the season. Why? He was a part of the Juan Soto trade. Hassell became a member of the Washington Nationals. His combined numbers were 19 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs 55 RBI with 20 MLB Future Watch: Robert Hassell III Baseball Cards, Washington Nationalssteals, and a .299 batting average. The prospect gets his power from his legs. This future star has power to all fields.

Another hot card comes out of the 2022 Topps Pro Debut set. He is pictured in his Fort Wayne TinCaps uniform.

One last one is his 2021 Leaf Flash of Brilliance Autograph. It’s a shiny card with an interesting signature.
