MLB Future Watch: Zac Veen Baseball Cards, Colorado Rockies – Zac Veen was drafted by the Colorado Rockies with the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. At 6’4”, this outfielder has the frame and the tools to make him an MLB All-Star if things break right.
Veen first starred at Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Florida. In his junior season, back in 2019, he hit .414 with 36 stolen bases. He played in the Under Armour All-America Game and the 2019 Perfect Game All-American Classic.
In November 2019, he committed to play college baseball at the University of Florida. In a pandemic-shortened season in 2020, Veen batted .500 with 4 doubles, 3 home runs, 10 RBI, 15 runs scored, and a .627 on-base percentage. At season’s end, Veen was named the Gatorade Florida Player of the Year. Clayton Kershaw, Kris Bryant, and Derek Jeter were previous award winners.
He made his professional debut in 2021 with the Fresno Grizzlies in Low-A ball. In 399 at-bats, Veen hit 27 doubles, 4 triples, 15 home runs, and 75 RBI with 36 steals and a .301 batting average.
He played for two teams in 2022 ending the season in Hartford, playing for the Yard Goats in AA. His combined numbers were 23 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs, 67 RBI, and 55 steals. He was also selected to play in the Futures Game.
This player can fill all the columns and that makes him a soon-to-be major-league talent.
Currently, MLB.com has Veen listed as the 27th-ranked prospect in their Top 100 list.
In 2023, Veen did well in spring training. His top exit velocity was 93.2 MPH, and he stole three bases in a game. He showed very well, with his speed and power were his calling cards. There’s a great chance he will get a call-up this season. He’s only 21, so they want him to continue to develop before that.
MLB Future Watch: Zac Veen Cards Worth Chasing
One card to get is Veen’s 2022 Bowman Chrome Blue Shimmer Refractor. It’s serial-numbered to 150, and it shows his power swing in his Colorado Rockies gear.
Another card is his 2022 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autograph. It shows him swinging, and the autograph is on card.
One last card is his 2022 Bowman Platinum Minted in Merit insert. I love the design. It shows a nice action shot, and it has his draft information. A fun card to collect!
