Future Watch: Nick Madrigal Rookie Baseball Cards, White SoxNick Madrigal was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft. He has a twin brother, Ty, who plays baseball as well. So, it runs in the family.

Nick attended the University of Oregon. During his time there he had four, four-hit games, nine assists at second base and Pac-12 Player of the Year, Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year and Baseball America’s All-America First Team.

In 2018, he started in Rookie Ball and ended up in Advanced A-Ball. He hit seven doubles, had 16 RBI and hit .303 with eight steals. He was off and running.

In 2019, he started again with the Winston-Salem Dash. He had 191 at-bats, hitting 10 doubles, two triples, two homers with 27 runs batted in and 17 steals.

He was promoted to Double-A where he played in 42 games for the Birmingham Barons. He hit .341 there with 11 doubles, 16 runs driven in and 14 stolen bases.

According to his MLB.com Prospect Profile:

Madrigal’s introduction to pro ball reinforced why scouts considered him the best pure hitter in the 2018 Draft. Unfazed by advanced competition, he used his controlled right-handed swing to spray line drives all over the field while striking out just five times in 173 plate appearances. He’s small and doesn’t have a lot of raw strength, but his ability to barrel the ball and his plus speed should produce a healthy amount of doubles and maybe 12-15 homers per season. Chicago planned on trying him at short but he has spent almost all of his pro career at second, where he could develop into a Gold Glover. ETA 2020.

Collectors can find his rookie card in 2019 Bowman Chrome. He also has cards in 2018 Bowman Draft, 2018 Panini Contenders Draft Picks, 2018 Leaf Metal Draft, 2019 Bowman Sterling and more!!

The infielder ended the season with the Charlotte Knights. In 118 at-bats he had six doubles and one triple with one homer and 12 RBI with a .331 average and four steals. He could play with the ChiSox this season.
