Future Watch: Ville Heinola Rookie Hockey Cards, JetsFuture Watch: Ville Heinola Rookie Hockey Cards, JetsVille Heinola was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets with the 20th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. This steady defenseman has shot up the charts in a very short time and doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

This talented Finn played Finnish junior hockey from 2015-2019. He worked his way up and along the way he amassed 117 points on various teams in 116 games.

He’s represented his country in the U17s, U18s and the 2019 World Junior Championship. He had two points in five games for his gold medal-winning squad. That 2018-19 season, he was playing for Lukko in Liiga. In 34 games he had 14 points playing against players around his age and sometimes a bit older.

Collectors can find rookie cards of him in 2019-20 Upper Deck Series 1 hockey as well as Finnish League card sets, that’s it.

He looked good in rookie camp and that carried over to training camp and preseason. As injuries and a retirement was looming on the blueline he was a steady influence on the blueline and he plays well beyond his age of 18.

This season he has five points and one goal in his first eight games. The fact that he is a +3 during that span will give the Jets something to think about. After nine games there are contract implications so it will be interesting if he stays up the entire season.

Here’s a look at the quick release he has for his first NHL goal:

This player will continue to get better. He has offense in his game and as he gets more comfortable more will creep into the scoresheet. Nobody expected him to get this far this fast, which probably includes Jets management. He is a player worth collecting because he is already ahead of the curve of his fellow draftees.
